why are we here?

Wet beds, wet sheets, wet clothes... It seems like my life has revolved around cleaning up pee in one way or another for the last 9 1/2 years. Nocturnal enuresis, or bed wetting, has disrupted my sleep, filled my days with extra work, and caused all kinds of headaches that never seemed to relate to this one root problem. And we never knew why until someone came to our house to educate us (and, not surprisingly, make money in the meantime) about how we had gotten lots of wrong information from everyone, including our pediatrician. We are paying $2000 to learn how to keep our nine year old son dry. Well, actually $1,995, but who's counting? So here's the deal... Everything I learn for $2K, I'm going to blog so you can learn it for free!!! Why? Because none of those other websites on health issues (even kids health) gave us the correct information. Because what we are doing now is working. Because I don't want your child to have to go through this anymore (or you, if you are the enuretic). So stay tuned. I can't promise that you will get the same results as we are getting, but I can promise that I will share with you everything I can to get your beds dry and your lives back to normal! Lets do this together. Our kids can stay dry!!

Oh, yeah, one more thing. Feel free to search around. I haven't found anyone else who is willing to truly help us for free. And if you have any specific questions, please ask. There is too much information for me to share all at once here with 5 homeschooling kids, but I'll do what I can!

Awesome blog, Shelley! Thanks so much for sharing what you're learning. I'll mention it in the next Bedwetting Help for Moms newsletter, and in the site's blog. You'll have hundreds of thankful parents!

We read your blog posting, and would like to help. We work with the Enuresis Treatment Center. For 32 years, the Enuresis Treatment Center has successfully treated thousands of people from around the world who thought there was no hope for ending bedwetting. Bedwetting, or enuresis, is actually caused by deep sleep, not to be mistaken for healthy sleep. This deep sleep causes a disconnect between the brain and bladder, and the bedwetting occurs as a result. Very rarely does one outgrow bedwetting, and if they do, they are left with a sleep disorder that can manifest into other forms, such as sleep apnea, insomnia, etc.
The Enuresis Treatment Center has put together an informative guide to understanding and treating bedwetting. This free bedwetting guide is available to download at

Great blog Shelley!

It's not uncommon for children to reach their mid to late teens and still be wetting the bed. (Indeed it's often an adult problem too).

The key thing to remember that drugs are seldom the answer to deep routed psychological issues relating to enuresis (bed wetting), in particular nocturnal enuresis as this is specifically a subliminal activity and needs to be dealt with by neuro associative conditioning.

It's not a complicated process and is something you can implement yourself very simply by applying a few basic techniques.

Take a look at this ebook I found with all the tips you'll need...

I am reading your blog and amazed at the similarities in our situation. I noticed that you haven't written for awhile and I am so hoping that you will continue to share your story. I did resort to the medication for ADD and truly question if it is necessary or if his symptoms (lack of focus at times)are more associated with a sleep disorder. I hope you are having continued success.

I have a 17 yr old who has never been dry (except for the times she doesn't sleep at all at night or when I get up every 2 hrs to take her to the bathroom)
We did the $3000. treatment from the Enuresis Center and found that it didn't help in our situation. Our daughter was not "on board" with the program and in the end they use all the same alarms and techniques that all the internet sites seem to have. They have a good idea but to speak to someone on the phone is a little impersonal, in my opinion.
I wish you lots of luck and I am so glad I found this blog to get any tips at all from anyone. Our daughter will go to college next summer and in the meantime we have decided to do acupuncture. It seems to be helping, she is sleeping much better and has begun to get up very early in the morning to go to the bathroom. Her acupuncturist says that the problem is with her kidney's and the chi is out of wack? So instead of antibiotics to fight off the chronic UTI's we hope this will help naturally.
I will keep you posted!

HOW I SOLVED MY CHILDS BEDWETTING-I tried waking my child up during the night, restrict fluids, bribery. None of this worked. I finally researched alarms on the internet. Using an alarm took 2 months but it worked wonders! From wet every night to completely dry every night!
My child (AGE 8) wore the alarm every single night for ten weeks. At the end of week 10, he had 14 dry days in a row! He became a much happier child, tons more smiles and much more positive attitude. I often wonder if he would still be wetting the bed if we hadn’t tried the alarm.
I strongly recommend the book, Seven Steps to Nighttime Dryness, by Renee Mercer for all parents dealing with a child’s bedwetting. also the early chapter book for children, Prince Bravery and Grace – Attack of the Wet Knights by Gail Ann Gross. It is the story of a young prince who struggles with "the Wet Knights" and eventually defeats them by using an alarm. The book is full of dragons and knights which children love, and it provides a light hearted look at the challenges of defeating "the Wet Knights." It gives children hope and courage.
You can solve your childs bedwetting, too. Get the books and an alarm -its the best decision i ever made.

I just feel like there is something we should be doing to help our 8 year old - maybe not having in over night pants...he is never dry but are the pants providing a "comfort" so he does not bother waking up??? waking him the night to pee seems more like it is training us not him. Everyone says "oh he'll grow out of it" but although he seems not bothered by wearing the pants I can't help but think he would feeel all that much better about himself without this problem.

Your awesome!!
This is just what I have been looking for. With this economy I can't afford to drop $2000 for Enuresis treatment.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right blog, but I am looking for the steps that are suggested by the Enuresis Treatment Center. I don't have $2000 to spend. I almost bought into a $2000 "treatment" which amounted to having my son drink a ton of water at night, putting an alarm under him and then waking him up every few hours to take him to the bathroom, having him change his own sheets (at night) and they would counsel us over the phone and send him stickers and what not to encourage him. Anyway, it all sounded great at first because we were desperate to help our son, but I woke up, came to my senses and realized we could do this on our own without paying them $2000 for some stickers and moral support along with the alarm and their "plan". Surely an alarm doesn't cost $2000 and their plan seemed a little punishing. Anyway, I'm wondering if the Enuresis Treatment Center is something similiar or if they actually help. I know they are a business and don't want to give away their secrets, but if you can share their general approach that would be helpful. Thanks.
